Our 'new book' bulletin board is featuring musicians who created dissonance in some way, whether through the music they wrote or their place in the world. Stop by throughout the semester as we add new titles to the list.

A new display in the Curriculum Collection looks at the history of inventors and their work. 

Music & Curriculum student Sarah Reynolds did a lot of research in putting this amazing display together! Come see what was invented here in Milwaukee, and browse the books.

Valentine's Day watchalong of David Tennant & Catherine Tate in Much Ado About Nothing

Join the UWM Libraries Staff Association and the UWM Music Library in a worldwide Valentine's Day watch-a-long of the David Tennant & Catherine Tate production of Much Ado About Nothing from Digital Theatre.

When: Friday, 14th February, beginning at 1pm
Where: Library Room E-281  (2nd Floor East Wing)

Stay for the whole thing, or stop by to see just a little of it and have a bite of chocolate.

New edition of AmeriGrove is here and it's got articles by UWM authors!

The New Grove Dictionary of American Music, 2nd Ed, which we call AmeriGrove has arrived!

It contains articles by three members of UWM's Faculty/Staff

Senior Lecturer in Music Martin Jack Rosenblum wrote the article "Music in Milwaukee"


Associate Professor of Musicology/Ethnomusicology Gillian Rodger contributed a three long articles on 
Burlesque, Variety, and Vaudeville 
as well as brief biographical sketches of the following:

Banned Book Week 22-28 September 2013 - Come Liberate a book or two from our "Book Jail"

This week, 22-28 September, is national Banned Book Week. The American Library Association has lists, lots of lists, of the top 10 most frequently challenged books in any one year - 2012, 2011, 2010 and the entire list back to 2001. They also have lists of the most challenged books by decade 1990-1999 and 2000-2009. 

There's this terrific interactive 30 year time-line too.

The Music & Curriculum Library does an annual display... this year we're inviting you to come visit and set a book free from our Book Jail ... If you can, maybe even intercept the "Paddy Wagon" as it carts the books off to the pokey.

We have print-outs of the banned book lists... feel free to pick one up and read a banned book this week.
